By choosing Jesus over Satan, am I not putting myself above Jesus in order to judge him good?

And in order to judge him good, am I not supposed to examine his character? Or am I supposed to choose Jesus just because he's the real God, no matter what I think of his character? And isn't something about putting oneself above The Almighty the reason Yahweh was so angry at Lucifer?
