Consequently, Dionne is right that he chooses to educate children self-respect. When they have self-respect, it gives them self-esteem; however, if they have self-esteem, sometimes they do not have self-respect. Not only is self-respect important in understanding self-esteem, but that it also uniquely contributes to individual performance. Without a reasonable basis of good behavior and actions, self-esteem is a delusion because self-esteem is based in what we think. We should obtain more self-respect since it involves the perception and appreciation of ourselves as persons.
